Moreton City Excelsior is about to make history – again.

We are preparing to join Australia’s footballing elite in the first Australian Championship.

It’s an honour Moreton City Excelsior has earned being the 2025 NPL Qld Premiers - and through years of hard work.

It’s also a chance to see your club taking on giants of the Australian game in blockbuster games at Perry Park.

Football Australia’s Interim CEO Heather Garriock says the new Australian Championship “celebrates the very best of domestic football in Australia”. And that includes Moreton City Excelsior.

Next month we take our place in Group A alongside three teams, which have been selected for the new National Second Tier:

South Melbourne – four times National Soccer League (NSL) winners and 10 times NPL VIC/Victorian Premier League champions.
Sydney Olympic – twice NSL winners, four times runners up and NSL Minor Premiers, three times runners-up.
Completing Group A is Broadmeadow Magic – nine times NBN State League/NPL Northern NSW Premiership winners.

If we progress, Marconi Stallions, which produced Aussie legends Harry Kewell, Frank Farina and Mark Schwarzer, may be waiting. Or APIA Leichardt, the ex-NSL champions and former Oceania Club Champions, or former NSL Premiers Sydney United.

Who would have thought 12 years ago, when Moreton Bay United became an NPL Qld foundation club, we would be in such company so soon?

What an achievement.

What an opportunity.
